Aida 2 course freedivers training

The AIDA 3 is for Freedivers who have already completed the AIDA 2 or equivalent. The AIDA 3 gives you the knowledge to go deeper and longer in your dives.

The AIDA 3 course is 3 days consisting of theory, pool sessions and open water dives.

Course information

A 3 day course

The courses goes deeper into the theory of freediving, covering the physiology and techniques enabling you to dive deeper. You will learn how to improve your own performance and further develop your rescue and safety skills.

Cost: £450

Duration: 3 Days

Equipment: Swimming kit and comfortable clothes.
All freediving equipment used during the course will be provided and included in the price.

Maximum course size: 4

All courses are taught in Cornwall, specific location dependent on weather.

Requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (16 years with parent or guardian consent)
  • Have completed the AIDA Medical Form
  • Have completed the Liability Release
  • Have completed the AIDA2 Freediver course*

    *Or have completed the AIDA2 Crossover Evaluation if crossing over from another freedive agency or having other adequate freediving

Certification as an AIDA 3 Star Freediver is dependent on reaching the target performances required, by the end of the course. As a certified AIDA 3 Star Freediver you will be able to demonstrate the following standards:

  • 2:45 min static breath hold
  • 55m dynamic with fins
  • 24m depth in the open water
  • Pass theoretical exam

Day 1

Pool & Theory

Begins with theory in the classroom, expanding your knowledge for freediving, aimed at giving you the skills and knowledge required to enable you to independently plan and take part in freediving activities with a qualified buddy.

We then move to the confined water where we cover static, dynamic, safety and rescues.

The theory will include:

  • Equalization

  • Barotrauma

  • Lungs at Depth

  • Bouyancy

  • Shallow Water Blackout

  • Training Concepts

  • The Mammalian Dive Response (MDR)

  • DCS and Surface Intervals

  • Freediver Code of Conduct

Day 2 & 3

Will be done in the open water and will take the diver to depths of between 24-30M depending on the divers ability and water conditions.

FAQ

Yes, Freediving is safe when done properly, with the correct knowledge and supervision.

You must be AIDA 2 or equivalent i.e SSI level 1 but feel free to contact us to discuss your ability and previous qualifications.

We bet you can hold your breath longer than you think! We will teach you how to improve your breath hold. People often surprise themselves with what they can achieve with the right knowledge and environment. Once you have booked on a course, we will also give you some dry exercises to try at home in preparation for the course.

Currently Alice Hickson is our main instructor but we do have other instructors who help from time to time. All our instructors are fully qualified, insured and experienced.

Our main base is Cornwall, Newquay, but where we run our courses is dependent on the weather. We do run courses and trips in other locations around the UK and abroad, so make sure you follow us on social media for the most up to date information.

If for any reason we cancel the course, we can reschedule or provide a full refund. By booking the course you are agreeing to attend. If you have to cancel up to 1 month before the start date you will receive 100% of the course fee or we can look at rescheduling, depending on circumstances. Within 1 month of the course start date we cannot provide a full refund, but will look to reschedule for a future date.
